How to Create Rules in Yahoo Mail
Yahoo Mail offers users the option to create “rules” that move incoming emails to a folder of their choosing. These rules can be used to filter newsletters by subject line, or to send emails to the trash or archive if they contain spam.
Creating rules is easy and free in yahoo mail. To begin, log into your account, then hover your mouse over the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the account page and select Settings.
From there, click “Mail Options,” then navigate to the “Advanced Options” section and choose Filters.
Next, you’ll see a list of all the filters you have in place. You can edit or delete any of them, as well as change their priority.
When you create a new rule, you’ll be asked to give it a name and choose the criteria for searching on. Once you’ve created a filter, it will automatically apply to all messages that match the criteria you have set.
You can also filter based on the sender’s email address, the subject line or even the content of the message itself. Each of these conditions can be matched using the following options:
Incoming Rules for Outlook
One common way to sort incoming messages is to use a folder system similar to the ones that are used by many other email programs. By default, all incoming messages are stored in the Inbox; however, you can create “mail filters” that automatically move unwanted or unneeded messages to a specific folder.
For example, you might create a filter that moves any messages sent from an email address that’s associated with the blog you read daily. You can also create a rule that moves any messages sent from a particular contact or group of contacts.
Then, you can decide what to do with the resulting emails. For instance, you might want to mark them as spam, add a star or attach a label so you can find them later.
If you’d prefer, you can also choose to skip the Inbox and move them to an Archive folder instead. This can help you keep your inbox clean, and it’s a great time-saver for messages that aren’t spam but might have been marked as such by mistake.
Adding an Email Signature to Your Yahoo Mail
If your personal email signature isn’t matching the look and feel of your message, you might need to add a custom one. Yahoo lets you upload a signature file, or you can create a custom one from scratch in the text editor.
A custom signature can help to make your Yahoo email appear more professional, and it’s a good idea for anyone using an online email service. You can even create a template that you can save and use again and again.
Using Spam Filters
Yahoo’s spam filters prevent harmful messages from getting into your inbox. These filters search for specific content, including a sender’s email address and sensitive keywords in the subject line or body of an email. You can add or remove spam filters in the Settings menu.
